For most of us who grew up in Southeast Asia, returning to Bangkok to re-visit our childhood home and school has been a lifelong dream. While some have been fortunate to have traveled back at some point over the years, the fact remains that most have not. Who is fellow ISB Alumni, Lloyd Coleman? Lloyd attended 2nd and 3rd grades at ISB in the early 60's, along with his two sisters, Leigh Coleman-Hotujec and Rebecca Coleman-Tinon while their father Capt. Ben Coleman was flying missions in Northern Thailand and Laos with Air America. After leaving Bangkok, Lloyd was transferred to Taipei American School until 1968, when his family transferred back southward to Laos, where he ultimately graduated, in the first graduating class of The American School of Vientiane in 1973. He has worked for 2 major airlines, and has spent over 35 years in the Travel industry. Lloyd heads up the worldwide sales and marketing for Aberdeen Tours, a division of C&H International, one of the largest ticket consolidators in the world. One of those C&H Companies is Econo Travel of Los Angeles, which is the company's Thai-market travel outlet servicing the American Thai communities nationwide, a company with a long and rich history of providing the best possible services to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam from the US, at the lowest possible prices. Lloyd caught the "Reunion" planning bug years ago and, through his company's contacts, has organized several highly successful ASV in-country reunions in Laos for the ASV Alumni, and in large group reunion in Taiwan for the families of Civil Air Transpot (CAT). Lloyd donates his time evenings and weekends to keep all the reunion events at cost and, as he puts it, "It's an absolute labor of love, and I get to go home to SE Asia with friends. It's like re-living the dream" |
