If you have time after or before the reunion and you would like to see a bit more of Thailand I would love to take you to Kanchanaburi (I lived there four years) where you can visit the Kwae Family Camp (what used to be the Polo Club) http://users1.jabry.com/KwaeHorseCamp/E%20RKFC.htm, I can even arrange for you to sleep in the same dorm you slept in all those years ago. We would of course also visit the world famous bridge over the Kwae http://www.seat61.com/Bridge-on-the-River-Kwai.htm and the cemetery close by http://mari-nicholson.suite101.com/war-graves-on-the-death-railway-a15716.
One of the best water falls (the Erawan) in all of Thailand is not far away where you can hike up to level four if you would like an adventure as the monkeys will try to steal your camera http://www.visitkanchanaburi.com/erawan.htm. Hell Fire Pass is also nearby where mostly Australian POWs chipped away mountains for the Japanese so the train track would reach Burma http://www.hellfirepass.com/museum_hellfire_pass.html. On the way there you can visit the Tiger Temple to touch a few tigers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8683cFOWTU. Or if you would like to hug and pet zebras and giraffes there is Safari Zoo also close . Some of the newest and most amazing temples are in Kanchanaburi. This would not be an expensive trip as we would use local transportation. For more info please contact me at valsherm@yahoo.com
