What are the reunion dates?
Thursday, July 17, 2008 – Sunday, July 20, 2008
Because ISB alumni like to arrive early and in such great numbers, this Reunion the ISB Network is organizing the optional Thursday night Thai Dinner on July 17. Because the Thursday Thai dinner is optional, it will be priced separately. The official reunion will still begin with the reception on Friday evening, July 18.
How much are the reunion registration fees?
The early bird rates, in effect from now until January 31, 2008, are $110 for alumni, $100 for spouses and guests, and $85 for parents and children 10 yrs and older (children under 10 are free).
The rates will increase on February 1, 2008, by $20 in each category, and again on July 1, 2008 by another $20.
The optional catered Thai Dinner is $36 per person ($20 for children under age 10). This price is fixed and is not subject to change over the registration period. We can accommodate as many as are interested, so arrive a day early to eat Thai food!
What does the reunion registration fee cover?
The registration fee will cover four main functions:
- Friday night, July 18* - Welcome Reception featuring Southwestern Fare (cash bar)
- Saturday, July 19* - A sit down, 3-course plated dinner/dance with live entertainment (no-host bar)
- Sunday, July 20 - Our reunion will close with a farewell continental breakfast with LOTS of coffee, juice, assorted breakfast pastries, and fruit
What is the “Early Bird Promotional Incentive?”
NOTE-02-01-2008: EARLY BIRD INCENTIVE IS NOW CLOSED UNLESS YOU WERE ONE OF THE FIRST 175 ALUMNI TO MAKE YOUR HOTEL RESERVATIONS EARLY-WE HAVE YOUR CONFIRMATION NUMBER ON FILE.
Our ability to produce the outstanding reunion you have all come to expect is heavily dependent on our having a good idea of how many people will be attending as far in advance as possible. The hotel will rely on an accurate head count from us to make sure they prepare enough food.
Our past experience tells us that we can expect attendance well over 300+ people. The Early Bird Incentive is a $20 discount off regular reunion fees to encourage reunion goers to make their hotel reservations before February 1, 2008.
As an added incentive for you to make your room reservation before 2/1/2008 , we will extend the early bird registration rate for 3 months (until April 30, 2008 ) for the first 175 people to confirm their hotel reservations. This means you can pay your reunion registration fee as late as April 30, 2008 , and still receive the discounted early bird rate. When registering with the ISB Network for payment of your reunion fees we will ask for your hotel confirmation number, and the first 175 reservation numbers will qualify for the early bird extension.
Remember, your hotel reservation is held by credit card, and the hotel will not actually charge your card until the day you checkout – even more incentive to make your reservation today!
What if I can’t attend all 4 functions?
If you cannot attend all 4 functions, you can pay individually for only those events that you are able to attend. The a la carte rates, effective through June 30, 2008, are as follows:
- Thursday Thai Dinner $36 Alumni
- Friday Reception: $30 per person
- Saturday Night Dinner/Dance: $110 per person
- Sunday Breakfast: $20 per person
After June 30, the a la carte rates will increase by $10 each.
What if I just arrive at the Crowne Plaza hotel with no prior notice to either the hotel or the reunion committee?
You will be warmly welcomed -- we pride ourselves in not ever turning anyone away. The hotel will do it's best to accommodate you with a room at the prevailing prices. Drop ins must pay all reunion fees in CASH ( the hotel does have an ATM) at the a la carte rates listed above (+ $10 per item). You will be given a badge to which your name will be added with a marking pen. Badges are required at all planned events. |
What is the Cancellation policy?
Hotel Cancellation Policy
Each person is responsible for canceling his or her hotel reservation directly through the hotel. Any individual cancellations received less than 48 hours prior to arrival will be billed for one (1) night room and tax.
Reunion Registration Cancellation Policy
You will receive a full refund of your reunion registration fees paid to the ISB Network for cancellations received prior to June 1, 2008. At that time, we have to provide the hotel with a guaranteed minimum head count for each of the four events.
Cancellations after June 15, 2008 will not be eligible for a refund unless funds are available after the final accounting some weeks after the reunion.
If I’m not going to rent a car, what’s the best way to get from the airport to the hotel?
Wondering how to get from the San Diego Airport to the hotel? You have two options if you are not renting a car - driving directions are on the Crowne Plaza website.
- Shuttle service is available from the airport at $13.50 per person, you can book in advance at 800-974-8885, OR
- Taxis are $20 one way and are available at the curb.
Other travel information:
Travel insurance – we encourage you to contact your Travel agent or AAA for information about obtaining travel insurance to protect you from loss in the event of flight cancellations.
Will either golf or tennis activities be arranged?
ANYONE interested in playing will need to call the course of their choice to reserve their tee time and will need to arrange for transportation to and from the golf course. The Bell Stand can provide transportation to the course behind the hotel – just ask.
Will there be a professional photographer again this year?
The ISB Network will arrange to have a professional photographer in the Ballroom on Saturday night to take class pictures and other special requests for group pictures just like in 2006. Class pictures and special request photos will be available for purchase directly from the photographer.
Will there be a room raffle this year?
We will once again hold a raffle for free room nights at the hotel. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the ISB Network Scholarship. At the 2006 reunion in San Antonio , we were successful in raising $2080 for the Scholarship, in St. Petersburg, over $2000 and we hope to do much better in 2008.
If I want to help out, how do I volunteer?
As we get closer to the reunion we will issue a call for volunteers in early June – mostly to help with setup and teardown of the Shack and Archives. We will also need volunteers to man the Shack at various time and we will again ask for young adult children of attendees to assist for payment on an hourly basis. Additionally, we will need volunteers to help set up and man the registration area. We will use the reunion website, the Bulletin Board and email blasts for these volunteer requests.
Does the ISBN Board make a profit?
All ISB Network Board members, past and present, and other individuals connected with the ISB Network serve strictly on a volunteer basis, and are prohibited by law from deriving any personal gain or profit through their association with the ISB Network.
The cost of each of our reunions is about $70,000. Our goal is to break even so that each reunion is self-supporting. We never know until the day of the reunion exactly how many people will attend, so the budgeting process involves some degree of guesswork.
After paying the ISB Network’s expenses, any surplus generated from the reunion will first be used to refund as much as possible to those who registered but were unable to attend. After that, the remaining funds, if any, will be carried forward to offset expenses for the next reunion. |
